Alex Jurkuta

Howdy! My name is Alex Jurkuta and I am a junior at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a Communications and English Writing double major with a Broadcast arts certificate. I am entering my third year as a photography intern for Pitt Athletics, and my third year with The Pitt News where I will be serving as the layout editor. I am also starting a photojournalism internship with Public Source.

I spent my last summer in St. Cloud Minnesota as the team photographer the St. Cloud Rox. During the 2024-2025 school year I won a Golden Quill from the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania and received an honorable mention in the Keystone Awards from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association for my work with The Pitt News as the visual editor. I also had the privilege of attending the NCAA Photo Final Four Workshop.
